18th-Century Inspired Men's Costume Ensemble PDF Sewing Pattern

Prepared after purchase. Digital delivery within 1 business day. A full-skirted coat, long waistcoat and knee breeches establish the silhouette of this planned men's costume ensemble. An ivory neck jabot and matching wrist frills complete the five component groups in the order.

The coordinated costume pieces

• Open knee-length coat with a narrow standing collar, shaped upper back and a defined rear waist join
• Deep rear skirt pleats, a center-back walking opening and two decorative waist-level buttons
• Long set-in coat sleeves with broad turned cuffs and three buttons on each cuff; lower front flap pockets
• Long waistcoat with four center-front buttons and gently rounded lower corners
• Close knee breeches ending in narrow bands below the knees
• Separate neck jabot on a slim neckband and a pair of gathered wrist frills

The coat and waistcoat are planned with lining. The waistcoat has a plain woven rear. For access, Sewlore will develop a concealed button fly and fitted waistband for the breeches, with small side fastenings at the knee bands. The frills will have adjustable fastening bands, and the jabot will fasten behind the neck. These are original construction decisions to be resolved and checked during preparation.

The plum, ivory and taupe palette and the forest, antique-gold and charcoal palette use the same construction. Narrow braid and simple hardware give the coat its trim. Stockings, shoes, wigs and any separate under-shirt are not included. This is an original costume interpretation inspired by eighteenth-century dress, without a claim of exact historical reconstruction.

Materials and assembly

A manageable stable velvet or woven costume suiting could hold the coat's skirt; a woven damask or suitable brocade could distinguish the waistcoat. Use a stable cloth for the breeches and a fine soft woven or lace-edged fabric for the jabot and wrist frills. Lining, support and trim must be tested with the selected outer cloth, especially at the turned cuffs and rear pleats.

The English guide will address shaping the coat over the waistcoat, arranging the rear skirt folds, planning lining and openings, and assembling the breeches and frill bands. A complete fitting sample of the layers must check seated comfort, knee movement, coat balance, sleeve clearance and fastening access. Neck and wrist bands must allow comfortable movement; final measurements and closure placement will be confirmed during preparation.
