Planned blouse details

Narrow binding follows the sweetheart neckline. Shaped front panels contour the body into a pair of tapered waist ties that meet at center front. The short, gently curved lower hem sits below the natural waist. Set-in sleeves have modest fullness at the shoulder and finish in narrow matching bands.

The back has a high round neckline, a short central opening with one fastening, shaped seams and a shallow V-shaped lower join. Pale jade previews show the three-quarter sleeve view from front and back; raspberry pink shows the short-sleeve alternative. These are two views of the same blouse, with the same neckline and waist treatment.

Fabric and sewing

Consider a light-to-medium fluid woven such as silk crepe, soft rayon crepe or a similar blouse-weight fabric. A subtle self-texture can work if it still allows the neckline and ties to lie smoothly. Make binding and seam samples, especially in fabrics that shift while sewing.

A toile should check neckline coverage, shoulder movement, ease through the body, back-neck access and the position of the tied waist. The shaped seams and bound sweetheart edge call for careful marking and pressing.
