Gathered at the neck, loose through the body

The sage-green previews show one horizontal flounce join near the hem. The body above it remains continuous. These neckline gathers are sewn into a separate band; they are not decorative smocking or elastic shirring. The rear remains covered apart from the short dressing slit, with no long neck ties.

Fabric and preparation

A soft opaque lightweight cotton woven is the starting direction. Check that the fabric forms small gathers without stiffness at the neckband and remains comfortable against the skin. The preview's cotton-like surface does not establish a tested fiber composition. Exact quantities, seam allowances, facing or binding methods and fastening specification will be confirmed during preparation.

The English guide will address distributing the front and back gathers, assembling the neckband, finishing the rear slit and armholes, and joining the lower flounce. The sample must establish head clearance when the button is open, neckline comfort, secure fastening, arm movement and seated coverage. Slit length and band dimensions must follow the child's measurements; a picture alone cannot establish dressing clearance or size coverage.
