Fabric starting point

Start by sampling a light, stable cotton or linen blend with enough body to show the panel lines. A soft check could emphasize the flare, while a plain cloth would make the seams easier to assess. Choose a lining that moves comfortably against the skin and does not pull the outer fabric out of shape.

Development and fitting

The first fitting sample should establish neckline coverage, neck-tie comfort and the height of the open back. Lacing can provide some adjustment, but it does not replace correct bust and waist shaping. Check the skirt while sitting and walking before choosing the final hem. Zipper position, loop reinforcement and the lining sequence will be settled during development.
