Its continuous woven bodice joins a full skirt along a seam that curves upward at the front center, giving the tie a clear place in the silhouette.

A gathered front with a smooth fitted back

• Sweetheart front neckline edged with a narrow self-fabric ruffle
• Center-front drawstring channel with a small bow and two hanging ties
• Continuous front bodice, with no separate underbust seam or midriff band
• Curved waist join raised at the front center and returning to the natural waist at the sides
• Short puff sleeves ending in narrow elasticated openings and small frills
• Smooth square back with waist shaping and a concealed center-back zipper
• One softly gathered above-knee skirt with a plain turned hem

The drawstring concentrates the front gathers while the side and rear bodice remain smoother. The rear zipper continues through the waist join into the skirt to provide dressing access. There are no front buttons, all-over elastic shirring, separate cups, boning or lacing. No built-in support is promised.

Three soft terracotta previews show the same dress on the same adult female model from the front, back and three-quarter angle. The skirt has no tiers, slit or pockets. Sandals are styling pieces and are not included.

Let the drawstring shape the gathering

A light opaque cotton woven that gathers readily is the starting fabric direction. A firmly woven cotton lawn or similar cloth can show the small folds without making the neckline ruffle heavy. Test the chosen fabric for opacity, shrinkage and the thickness of its gathered seams. The texture in the previews is illustrative and does not establish a tested fiber specification.

The English guide will address the center drawstring channel, neckline ruffle and facing, bodice shaping, puff-sleeve casings, curved skirt join and invisible zipper. The internal channel method, tie length, facing depth and final seam placement will be settled together during preparation. Stretch knit is not an interchangeable fabric choice for this woven design.

Make a complete fitting sample to check neckline coverage, shoulder position, bust room and the height of the front waist curve. Test the drawstring at a comfortable setting while sitting and raising the arms; it adjusts the gathers, not the underlying size. Check the rear zipper, sleeve movement and skirt coverage before cutting final cloth.
