Pack-Away Tote Bag PDF Sewing Pattern

Prepared after purchase. Digital delivery within 1 business day. This planned pack-away tote folds into its own attached pocket. A lightweight unlined body and two flat handles keep the construction flexible for folding between uses.

A tote and its fixed storage pocket

• Flat rectangular body with a folded lower edge and finished side seams
• Single-layer unlined construction without separate base or side gussets
• Two flat fabric handles attached at the top hem
• Plain exterior and open hemmed rim
• One rectangular storage pocket fixed inside one broad face
• Pocket sewn at its sides and bottom with an open top edge
• Body and handles fold into the pocket when it is turned outward around the bundle

The cornflower-blue previews show the tote carried, opened to reveal its navy storage pocket, and packed down. The compact form is the same bag enclosed by its attached pocket, not a second detachable pouch. The navy pocket forms one face of the packet and the blue tote wall forms the other. There is no zipper, snap or extra wrapping strap.

Fabric and folding checks

A lightweight tightly woven cotton-like cloth is the starting direction. Avoid unnecessary bulk from thick fabric, stiff support or lining. The image texture does not establish a tested fiber composition, fabric weight or carrying performance.

The English guide will address the single-layer body, finished seams, handle anchors, fixed storage pocket and folding sequence. Pocket size and placement must be developed together with the tote dimensions and handle bulk. A complete sample must confirm that the body packs without forcing the seams, unpacks comfortably and remains useful when carried. Check handle reinforcement, intended contents and repeated folding before final fabric. No capacity, durability or environmental performance guarantee is made.

The lined gusseted tote uses separate depth panels and a lining with an internal slip pocket. The flat zipper pouch is a separate small container. This design develops a lightweight tote whose attached pocket encloses the folded bag itself. Browse tote bag sewing patterns.
