The collar, zipper and pocket positions would be developed together so that the front remains balanced when closed. A fitting sample should be worn over the intended underlayer to check the raglan reach, upper-arm room and cuff opening. The hem is planned to fall freely rather than drawing tightly into the waist.
Fabric and sewing
Teddy fleece or a stable sherpa-style fabric is a possible starting point. The contrast pocket fabric needs enough firmness to support zipper openings; a fine corduroy or suitable woven could be tested. Compare thickness, stretch and laundering behaviour before combining materials, and check that the binding can turn around layered edges without pulling.
Sewing would focus on keeping the pile clear of zipper teeth, supporting the pocket openings and reducing bulk at collar and binding joins. Test each layered seam with the intended needle and thread. Carefully marked pocket positions and controlled front-edge handling would help preserve the jacket's square, relaxed outline.
