Give usable denim a new shape with a collarless, zip-front jacket planned around reclaimed jean-leg panels. Long strips and staggered joins create the patchwork, while a relaxed hip-length body keeps the lines clear. Two low patch pockets and simple sleeve hems finish the design.

A jacket designed for reclaimed panels

The proposed pattern uses a modular panel map for assembling narrower pieces into the body and sleeves. Plan your light and dark sections before joining them, then follow the assembled outline. The smooth, unquilted construction suits a collection of compatible denims without adding batting.

Choosing jeans and materials

Choose sound, prewashed denim with similar weight and stretch behaviour. Avoid worn-through sections and combining rigid denim with very stretchy scraps. Some panels may need piecing before they are large enough to cut. The number of jeans required depends on their usable area and the jacket size, so a fixed number of pairs is not promised.

You will also need a separating zip, suitable thread and neckline finishing materials. Confirm quantities, zip length and panel dimensions from the prepared files before buying supplies. Working through several denim layers, matching seams and installing a zip make this a project for a confident sewer.

Your order includes preparation of the jacket PDF sewing pattern, a panel-planning layout and an English sewing guide. The design has not yet been drafted, sewn or fit-tested. Make a fitting sample before cutting your selected denim. Images are generated design previews; the shades and placement in your reclaimed fabric will vary.
