A straight leg with tailored waist details

• Fitted waistband with narrow belt loops and a concealed hook-and-bar fastening
• Center-front zipper fly and two slanted inset hip pockets
• Flat front shaped by a small waist dart on each side
• One back waist dart on each side and a plain center-back seam, without back pockets
• Full-length straight legs, pressed creases and plain turned hems

Warm taupe shows the same design from the front and back; deep pine shows another fabric color. The long lines down the legs are pressed creases, not stitched panel seams or pintucks. The top and shoes are styling only; this order covers the trousers.

Fabric and fitting

Consider a medium-light woven suiting, smooth wool blend or stable twill that presses cleanly and has enough drape for a relaxed straight leg. Check opacity, recovery from sitting and how the cloth behaves around the zipper and pocket openings. Stretch knit is not an interchangeable substitute for this proposed woven draft.

Preparation will address the fly, waistband support, pocket bags, dart balance and hem. Make a full fitting sample to check waist and hip ease, rise, seated comfort and leg balance. Mark the finished length with the intended shoes, then establish the crease after fitting.
