Fabric and fit planning

Supple woven wool, wool crepe or a similar stable cloth is a starting point for sampling. The visor needs firmer support than the soft hat or scarf. Use a narrow flexible binding and choose trim that follows the mitten curves without pulling. A lining may improve the feel against the skin, but the final fabric, support and lining combinations need sampling.

Measure the head at the intended wearing position, allowing for the hairstyle underneath. Check the visor's sight line, hood depth and neck movement in a sample. For mittens, check hand length, palm width, thumb movement and the opening over your chosen sleeve. The three cuff shapes provide different styling directions; they are not a tested warmth or protective-performance rating.
