A narrow wedge crown and a turned-up side band give this 1940s-inspired garrison cap its compact outline. The navy and khaki previews show the same brimless design with different fabric and piping suggestions.

Planned cap construction

• Elongated crown with a recessed lengthwise center fold
• Shaped side panels tapering toward the front and rear
• Turned-up lower band with a narrow piped upper edge
• Neatly joined ends and a separate lining to enclose internal seams
• No visor, peak, chin strap or insignia

The gallery shows the navy cap from two opposing three-quarter angles and the khaki alternative from the first angle. These are color choices within one pattern, not separate graded or miniature versions. This is an adult fashion and costume design.

Fabric and fitting plans

Consider a stable fine wool woven or a medium-weight cotton twill with suitable support. Fabric thickness affects the inner circumference, crown fold and band edge, so sample the layers together. The guide will cover the crown seams, band, piping and lining. Check head circumference, depth and the desired wearing angle before final cutting. The pattern is not presented as a universal one-size fit.
