1950s Raglan Collar Blouse PDF Sewing Pattern

Raglan sleeves and a convertible collar

• Hip-length woven blouse with a fitted waist and gently curved hem
• Raglan sleeve seams, short shoulder darts and long front waist darts
• Five buttons along the center-front opening
• Convertible collar shown upright in sage and folded back in dusty rose
• Full three-quarter sleeves gathered into narrow buttoned cuffs
• Closed rear neckline, center-back seam and paired rear waist darts

The two collar arrangements belong to the same planned blouse. This release includes one sleeve length. Sage and dusty rose are cloth color suggestions rather than separate patterns. The charcoal trousers are styling only and are not included.

Fabric and construction

Opaque cotton poplin or a comparably crisp, light woven is the starting fabric direction. Choose cloth that holds a clean collar edge without making the sleeve gathers bulky. Compare the shell and interfacing together in a swatch, checking that the collar can stand upright and fold comfortably. A fluid crepe or stretch jersey will not automatically behave like the preview.

The English guide will address joining the raglan seams, shaping the shoulder and waist darts, supporting the convertible collar, constructing the front opening and finishing the gathered cuffs. The internal collar pieces and their stabilization will be established during original pattern development. The open and upright positions must both be checked on the fitting sample.

A full fitting sample should test upper-arm movement, neckline height, bust and waist ease, cuff circumference and hem balance over the hips. The sleeve gathers should remain soft without pulling the raglan seam forward. Final measurements and button placement will be confirmed during preparation.
