Prepared after purchase. Digital delivery within 1 business day. A curved, off-centre hem gives this planned midi skirt its cascading outline. The smooth waist and softly flared upper body leave the movement at the lower edge in focus.
A curved hem with an asymmetric fall
- One adult woven skirt with a closed, single-layer body
- A smooth natural waist finished with an internal facing and shaping darts
- A fitted upper skirt joined edge-to-edge to one broad, ungathered cascading flounce
- A curved seam shaping the flared lower section
- A broad curved hem rising around the wearer's left knee
- A cascading fold at the raised edge, with the right side and back falling toward mid-calf
- A concealed centre-back zipper
The front stays closed above the raised hem. The upper skirt and single flared extension join along one curved seam; they do not overlap as two floating layers. This design has no wrap fastening, waist tie or gathered ruffle. The left-side hem placement and rear closure are development choices for this Sewlore version. Exact hem positions and balance will be resolved in the draft.
Fabric and sewing plans
The previews show rich oxblood in a matte, fluid woven crepe. A light wool crepe or a similarly draping opaque woven is a starting point. Test the cloth's fall, opacity and ability to hold a neat narrow curved hem; a very stiff fabric would change the cascade.
The English guide will address stabilising the waist, sewing the shaping darts and zipper, joining the curved flounce seam, finishing the waist facing and levelling the uneven hem. Let the bias sections settle before making the final hem. Measurements, fabric quantities and seam allowances are confirmed during preparation.
Make a full fitting sample to assess the shortest hem while standing and seated, the longer edge while walking, and ease through the hips. The planned silhouette does not carry a verified petite, tall or custom-fit specification.
Compare the skirt shapes
The Side-Draped Midi Skirt uses fixed folds at one side seam and a back walking vent. The Layered Handkerchief Skirt uses two independently finished pointed layers. Here, one broad ungathered flounce continues from the fitted upper skirt into a curved high-low hem.
