Basque Layered Maxi Skirt PDF Sewing Pattern

Prepared after purchase. Digital delivery within 1 business day. A shallow basque point frames the front of this planned layered maxi skirt. Curved outer edges open over a full, closed underskirt, revealing contrasting cloth while keeping the long silhouette covered.

Two layers on a shaped waistband

• Narrow fitted waistband dipping to a shallow center-front V
• Softly gathered, opaque underskirt with a continuous closed front
• Separate outer layer with curved open-front edges and an uninterrupted rear
• Both layers attached to the same waistband
• Level rear band and a discreet planned opening at the left side
• Long hem intended to skim above the floor, without a trailing train

Dusty peacock and pale copper illustrate the front and back. Muted plum and antique rose offer another palette. The front opening belongs to the outer layer only; it does not expose a leg slit. The rear hangs freely without lifted bustle folds, internal draping ties or back openings. This order covers the skirt and its two layers, with no bodice, corset, sleeve or accessory pattern.

Fabric and layered assembly

A fluid, opaque woven crepe is a starting point for both layers. Test compatible weights and shrinkage so the outer edges fall smoothly over the underskirt. A lightweight lining or facing at the band may help the waist retain its shape; its support and thickness will be established during preparation.

The English guide will address stabilizing the dipped waist, controlling the gathers, finishing the curved outer edges, joining the layers and making the left-side dressing opening. The side access is a Sewlore development choice. Its depth must clear both layers without catching the underskirt. Exact gather distribution and the relative hem positions need to be established in the draft.

Check waist comfort, seated ease, how the layers slide together, and walking clearance in a complete sample. Allow the long curved edges to settle before levelling the hems. This is an original costume skirt interpretation, with no claim of authenticated historical construction.
