Boat-Neck Side-Gore Gown PDF Sewing Pattern

Prepared after purchase. Digital delivery within 1 business day. A wide, shallow neckline and long hanging sleeve drapes frame this planned loose gown. The body falls freely through the waist, with triangular side pieces adding a gradual flare below the lower hip.

A relaxed pullover with side gores

• Wide boat neckline finished with a narrow flat band

• Two side gores beginning around the lower hip
• Closed floor-length skirt with a turned hem
• Set-in sleeves with smooth upper-arm sections

• Lower sleeve openings that clear the front wrists and hang longer underneath

The lower drapes are part of the attached sleeves. They are not a separate cape or removable sleeve accessory. A contrasting sleeve lining is planned to finish the long open edges. The unbelted body has no waist elastic, lacing, zipper or side slit. This one gown is the complete preparation scope; no belt, hood or underdress is included.

This is a new fantasy costume interpretation, not a verified medieval reconstruction. Burgundy with copper shows the front and rear; moss with antique gold shows the same silhouette in another colorway.

Cloth, sleeve weight and movement

A soft, opaque woven crepe is a useful starting point. The cloth needs enough fluidity for the hanging sleeves without making the long body cling. Compare the outer fabric and lining together before buying; a heavy lining could pull at the upper sleeve join and change its fall.

Preparation will address neckline stability, set-in sleeve balance, clean flat bands, lining the lower drapes and joining the side gores. The neckline must be wide enough for dressing while remaining secure on the shoulders. Final ease, band widths, lining extent and seam finishes will be established with the draft.

Make a complete fitting sample to check overhead access, comfortable reach, sleeve weight and walking clearance. Assess the long sleeve points while seated as well as standing. The side gores provide skirt volume; they do not replace sufficient room through the chest, waist and hips.
