Aubergine front and back previews show the same design. Dusty sage is an alternative color, not a separate pattern. The front stays continuous without a horizontal waist join, buttons or a front fastening. The trousers are styling only and are not included.

Fabric and sewing

An opaque lightweight linen-cotton blend, suitable cotton poplin or another stable woven with a soft hand offers a useful starting point. It needs enough body to show the shaping seams and form the bow, without becoming stiff along the cutout. Sample the fabric after laundering and compare the thickness of the folded tie ends.

A narrow enclosed elastic casing along the gathered upper-back edge is our proposed construction choice. Its length and recovery must be developed with the opening, rather than used to pull an oversized back into place. Clean self-faced neckline and armhole edges and a narrow turned hem are planned; their exact arrangement will be settled during preparation.

The English guide will address princess seams, supporting the exposed back edges, forming the broad tie extensions and finishing the lower panel. Make a full fitting sample to check bust shaping, shoulder coverage, dressing access with the bow untied and the cutout while reaching or sitting. This concept has no added zipper or button closure.
