Developing the overlap and shaping

The outer front will fasten through one column of three buttonholes, with the other visible button column completing the double-breasted arrangement. An internal stay button is planned to support the underlap. Its placement, the overlap width and interfacing will be resolved together during preparation. The plain shaped back without an adjustment strap is a Sewlore development choice.

A stable medium-light woven suiting or suitable linen blend is the starting fabric direction, paired with a smooth compatible lining. Choose cloth that can hold the front points and pocket welts without making the doubled front rigid. The preview texture is illustrative; test the actual fabric, interfacing and buttonholes before cutting final cloth.

The English sewing guide will address women's bust and waist shaping, the reinforced overlap, welt pockets, front facings, lining and turning the pointed hems. Make a complete fitting sample over the intended underlayer. Check neckline coverage, armhole comfort, bust position and button strain while sitting and reaching. The two fronts should remain balanced without pulling the waist off center.
