Flat-Front Elastic-Back Palazzo Pants PDF Sewing Pattern

Prepared after purchase. Digital delivery within 1 business day. A smooth front waistband gives these planned woven palazzo pants a clean upper line, while elastic across the back provides pull-on access. Fluid, very wide legs fall from relaxed hips to a full-length hem.

A flat front with an elastic back

• High waist with a narrow matching fabric band
• Ungathered front waistband and elastic enclosed across the back half only
• Slanted inset pockets at the front hips
• Clean front leg panels without sewn pleats or pressed creases
• Straight-grain woven legs with a generous palazzo sweep
• Plain rear, center-back seat seam and simple turned hems

The pull-on design has no fly, side zipper, drawstring, belt loops or rear pockets. Aubergine front and back views show the waist treatment; sage green shows the same pants in another color. The ivory top and shoes are styling only and are not included.

Choosing a flowing woven

An opaque viscose crepe or comparable fluid woven is a useful starting point. Test a hanging swatch for drape and transparency, then check the pocket area in the same cloth. These legs are planned on straight grain. A bias-cut layout or stretch-knit fabric would require different drafting and should not be substituted without assessment.

The guide will address pocket support, joining the fixed front band to the elastic back casing and balancing the crotch seams. A complete fitting sample must check whether the waistband expands enough to pass over the hips while sitting comfortably at the waist. Review the rise when seated, pocket gaping, stride and hem clearance in the intended shoes. Final ease, elastic length and fabric quantities will be set during preparation.
