A detachable dickey, also called a chemisette, adds a shirt-style neckline beneath a cardigan or dress without a full blouse. One short front-and-back bib construction supports two planned collar views: a standing collar for historical costume styling and a pointed turn-down collar for a crisp vintage layered look.

Two collar views in one detachable insert

• Short front and back bib panels joined at the shoulders, with open sides and neatly finished edges
• Center-front button opening and short lower side ties to position the insert beneath the outer garment
• View A: standing collar with a center-front opening
• View B: pointed turn-down collar on a narrow stand, with six small front buttons in the previews
• No sleeves or full shirt body; this is a neckline insert rather than a standalone blouse

The three model previews show View B in warm ivory beneath a navy cardigan, then reveal its back and side-tie detail. View A is the standing-collar alternative in the same pattern preparation. Final collar proportions, button placement and tie lengths will be established in the original draft. Historical styling is an interpretation, not a verified period reconstruction.

Choose fabric for the visible neckline

Lightweight woven cotton lawn, poplin or a suitable fine shirting is the starting direction. Check opacity, collar support and edge bulk beneath the intended outer garment. A complete fitting sample should assess neck ease, front coverage, shoulder position and comfortable side ties. The insert is not designed to provide a full shirt's coverage when worn alone.

Your order includes preparation of a PDF sewing pattern and an English sewing guide for both collar views. Final sizing, finished measurements, material quantities, print formats, layouts and page counts will be confirmed during preparation. Please contact Sewlore before ordering to check your neck measurements and the opening of the intended outer garment. Custom fitting is not included.
