Prepared after purchase. Digital delivery within 1 business day. A fitted raised waist and crossed suspenders give this planned high-waist suspender skirt its 1950s-inspired outline. Six shaped gores flow from the upper edge into a smooth, flared calf-length hem.

A raised waist shaped into the skirt panels

• Six continuous gores shaping the raised waist, hips and flared skirt
• Integral high waist finished with an internal facing, without a separate waistband
• Shaped upper-front edge with a shallow central dip and a straight high rear edge
• Broad suspenders crossing once at the back and buttoning at both front and rear
• Curved inset side-front pockets and a discreet concealed left-side zipper
• Calf-length hem without waist gathers, pleats, ruffles or a full upper bib

The aubergine views show the front and crossed-strap rear; forest green shows the same skirt in another color. This is one suspender-skirt design. The straps can detach at their buttons for handling, but a separate strapless fit or extra length is not included in this planned release.

Fabric and construction

A soft opaque wool crepe or a comparable woven suiting is the starting direction. The cloth needs enough body to support the raised waist and enough movement for the lower flare. Compare the facing, pocket bags and shell together before choosing interfacing. A stiff or bulky fabric can make the upper edge and strap attachments uncomfortable.

The English guide will cover joining and pressing the long gore seams, supporting the shaped waist edge, inserting the pockets and side zipper, and securing the crossed straps. The integral high waist needs room for breathing and sitting; it is not a corset and has no planned boning. A fitting sample must check the upper-edge height, hip ease, strap length and crossing position before final fabric is cut. Let the assembled skirt settle before leveling the hem.
