A full crossover front and a softly flared skirt give this planned knit wrap dress its relaxed 1970s-inspired outline. Narrow sewn neckline bands frame the V, while self-fabric ties secure the opening at the natural waist. The deep-teal previews show one original midi design on the same adult female model.
A true wrap opening in jersey
- Overlapping V-front bodice edged with separate narrow knit bands
- Level natural-waist seam joining the shaped bodice to a gently flared mid-calf skirt
- Generous overlapping skirt fronts, with no separate slit
- Inner waist tie planned to pass through a discreet right side-seam opening, with the outer tie fastening near the left front waist
- Long set-in sleeves finished with narrow fitted jersey wristbands
- Closed upper back and continuous center-back construction seams through bodice and skirt
The ties belong to the garment opening; this is a full wrap rather than a fixed crossed-front panel. No zipper, collar, button cuffs, elastic waistband or separate belt is planned. The rear and close detail retain the same neckline, sleeves and waist treatment. Shoes and room furnishings are styling only.
Choose a knit with reliable recovery
A soft, opaque jersey with suitable stretch and recovery is the starting direction. Sample the cloth for its weight, crosswise stretch, washing behavior and tendency to curl. The V bands must follow the edges without stretching them out or drawing the bodice tight. Final fabric composition, required stretch, stabilizers and material quantities will be confirmed during preparation; a non-stretch woven should not be substituted without redesigning the ease and opening.
The English guide will address finishing the wrap edges, supporting the tie passage, joining the waist, setting in the sleeves and making flexible hems. A full fitting sample should check neckline coverage, tie access, shoulder balance, seated skirt overlap and walking room. The preview does not demonstrate a sewn fastening or tested fit. Tie lengths, band proportions, seam allowances and finished measurements will be settled with the draft.
Compare the wrap construction
The long-sleeve woven wrap dress is planned for fluid woven cloth. The ruched tulip knit dress uses a fixed skirt overlap without wrap ties. This design uses a full-opening jersey wrap with separate neckline bands. Browse wrap dress patterns, knit sewing patterns and vintage dress patterns.
