Fabric, loops and fitting

Choose an opaque woven with enough softness for the bust and skirt gathers, such as a suitable viscose twill or supple cotton-viscose blend. A very crisp cloth can exaggerate the sleeve and skirt volume, while a loosely woven fabric may need more support beside the loops. Test washing, pressing and drape before choosing the final cloth.

The English guide will address gathering the bust into the curved seams, joining the front midriff and waist, making rouleau loops, stabilizing the front edges, and sewing the bishop sleeves and cuff openings. Facing and interfacing details are Sewlore development choices. Final button spacing, button count, loop length, seam allowances and material quantities will be determined during preparation.

Make a full fitting sample to check V-neck coverage, bust ease, the height of the underbust seam, and pressure on the front loops while sitting. Test sleeve lift, cuff clearance and walking ease with the full opening closed. A small loop-and-button sample should establish that the fastening stays secure without straining the front edge.
