Men's Capelet Duster Coat PDF Sewing Pattern

Prepared after purchase. Digital delivery within 1 business day. A curved shoulder capelet adds a second layer to this planned men's duster. Beneath it, a complete long-sleeved coat has a roomy straight body, a double-breasted front and a rear walking slit.

One long coat, with a removable capelet

• Mid-calf body with comfortable layering room and a modest lower flare
• Flat convertible collar and a double-breasted front overlap
• Twelve aged-brass buttons arranged in two vertical rows of six
• Long set-in sleeves ending in plain wrist hems
• Center-back seam opening into a lower walking slit
• Separate curved shoulder capelet finishing above the elbows
• Open curved capelet fronts that leave the coat fastenings visible
• Planned lining, front facings and a concealed cape attachment

The ink-brown previews show the capelet attached from the front and back. The storm-grey preview removes it to show the clean shoulders of the complete sleeved coat underneath. Both arrangements belong to this one design. The coat has no waist join, belt, pockets, rear tails, shoulder straps or storm yoke.

Cloth and construction

A manageable medium-weight wool blend, stable twill or comparable woven costume cloth is the starting point. Sample the collar, front overlap and cape layers together before choosing the fabric. Excessively heavy cloth can make the shoulder attachment bulky and change how the long body hangs. This design does not carry waterproof, protective or tested-temperature claims.

The English guide will address the overlap, collar, button placement, sleeve setting, capelet edges and rear slit. Preparation will establish the concealed attachment positions, support layers, lining arrangement and slit reinforcement. The twelve-button layout is Sewlore's design choice; the previews are not finished construction diagrams.

Fit a complete toile over the intended clothing. Check chest and upper-back ease, reaching movement, overlap while seated and the capelet's effect on the shoulders. Walk and climb a step to assess slit opening and hem clearance. The coat is a new fantasy and western-inspired costume interpretation, without a claim of exact historical tailoring.
