Design and fabric

This men's coat is planned around a dedicated shoulder and chest shape with room for a shirt or another light layer underneath. Notched lapels, a button front and welt pockets would give the straight body a tailored finish. A centre-back vent and a separate lining would be developed together to allow the lower coat to open in movement. Wool coating or a stable coating blend could be explored with appropriate interfacing. The guide would focus on shaping the collar and lapels, assembling the two-piece sleeves and arranging the lining at the vent. A toile would establish the layering allowance.
