Men's Flared Patch-Pocket Trousers PDF Sewing Pattern

Prepared after purchase. Digital delivery within 1 business day. Front patch pockets and a clean fitted waist set up the shape of these planned men's trousers. The legs narrow towards the knee before opening into a pronounced, full-length flare.

A patch-pocket flare with a shaped rear yoke

• Smooth fitted waistband with a central button fastening and belt loops
• Concealed front zipper under a fly facing and shield
• Two large front patch pockets with gently rounded lower corners
• Close upper-leg and knee shaping opening into broad flared hems
• Shallow rear hip yoke above plain rear leg panels
• Plain turned hems; no cuffs or separate rear pockets

The front pockets are applied to the trouser surface, rather than cut as slanted inset openings. The planned version has no pleats, thigh cargo pockets, elastic waist or drawstring. Petrol blue and tobacco brown show the same design; the shirt and shoes are styling only.

Fabric and construction planning

A stable medium-weight cotton twill or a firm, manageable woven suiting is the starting point. The fabric needs enough body to hold the patch pockets and flare while remaining comfortable at the thigh and seated rise. Stretch fabric requires a separately assessed fit and is not an automatic substitute.

The English guide will address matching the rear-yoke seams, shaping and topstitching the pockets, assembling the fly and waistband, and balancing the flare. A fitting sample must check waist position, seat and thigh ease, knee level, walking clearance and final length with the intended shoes. Pocket placement and flare width will be settled during preparation.
