A geometric yoke with integrated chest pockets

• Wide folded spread collar around an open V-shaped entry
• Faced upper front yoke with a lower rectangular center section
• Two chest pocket openings integrated into the horizontal yoke join, each with one button
• Short set-in sleeves and a relaxed woven body
• Simple rear shoulder yoke with a small fullness pleat near each side
• Straight hip-length hem with short side vents

This is a pullover. The V opening stops at the upper chest and there is no full front button placket. The pockets sit within the chest construction rather than appearing as applied patch pockets. Slate blue and muted sage show the same planned shirt; trousers are styling only.

Fabric and sewing approach

A stable cotton poplin, chambray or light shirting-weight linen is a useful starting point. The fabric should press cleanly at the yoke's right-angle corners without becoming bulky around the pocket mouths. Choose compatible support for the collar and faced yoke; a knit is not an automatic substitute.

The English guide will address sewing the stepped seam accurately, reinforcing its corners, building the pocket bags behind the chest entries, attaching the collar and finishing the side vents. The first fitting sample must check head clearance through the V entry, chest ease, sleeve movement and the placement of the pocket line. Collar depth and finished ease will be confirmed during preparation.
