Men's Zoot Suit PDF Sewing Pattern — Jacket and Trousers

The complete proportion is the focus of this planned men’s zoot suit: a long, wide-shouldered jacket over very high-waisted trousers that narrow from a full hip to cuffed ankles. Jacket and trousers stay together as one 1940s-inspired outfit.

• Broad structured jacket shoulders and very wide peaked lapels
• One low front button, long waist shaping and two angled lower flap pockets
• A small breast welt is included in the Sewlore design direction
• Shaped jacket back with a deep center vent and planned lining
• Very high trouser waist, deep front pleats and generous hip and thigh volume
• Legs taper to narrow turned-up ankle cuffs; front fly with a concealed waistband fastening

The order covers the jacket and trousers only. Shirt, tie, shoes and any accessories are styling only and are not included. The two colors do not represent separate patterns.

Fabric and construction

A medium-weight wool suiting or comparable woven with controlled drape is the starting fabric direction. It should hold the lapel edge and pressed pleats without making the trouser folds rigid. Aubergine and petroleum blue are alternative cloth colors for the same planned suit.

The English guide will address the long shaped jacket, peaked lapels, shoulder support, low single-button closure, welt and flap pockets, lining and rear vent, followed by the high waistband, fly, pleats and turned trouser cuffs. The small breast welt is a Sewlore design addition, not a claim about every historical zoot suit. The tailoring and internal supports will be resolved during original development.

Make a complete fitting sample of both pieces together. Check jacket balance and arm movement, lapel roll, high-waist comfort when seated, pleat release through the hip and knee movement in the tapered legs. The set is historically inspired rather than an authenticated reconstruction or a tested performance costume.

The final size chart, finished measurements, material quantities, print formats, layouts and PDF page counts will be confirmed during preparation. Please contact Sewlore before ordering to check measurement suitability. Custom fitting is not included.
