One pair of layered Juliet sleeves

• Matched left and right sleeves for a conventional set-in armhole
• Separate smooth-edged outer panes running from the sleeve cap to the upper-arm band
• A fuller, opaque gathered underlayer visible between the open panes
• A narrow joining band just above the elbow
• Long smooth lower sleeves ending at plain wrist hems
• The same pane and underlayer arrangement around the front and rear of each upper arm

Muted mulberry and antique gold show the front and rear. Deep peacock blue with pale ivory shows the same sleeve pair in another colorway. This order covers one long panned view. Short puff, slashed-opening and detachable sleeve views are not included.

The panes are separate outer pieces over a continuous underlayer. They are not printed stripes, closed panel seams or holes revealing the arm. The plain ivory bodice in the previews is a styling aid; its pattern is excluded. This is an original fantasy costume interpretation without a claim of authenticated period construction.

Adaptation to your chosen bodice

These sleeves are sewn into a bodice armhole. They do not have elastic-supported upper edges for wearing independently, and they are not universally interchangeable with other patterns. Your selected bodice needs a suitable set-in armhole and measured adaptation before the sleeve can be fitted.

Compare the armhole seam length and shape, sleeve-cap balance, shoulder position and upper-arm ease. Raglan, cut-on and dropped-shoulder bodies require a different approach. A complete fitting sample must include your intended bodice so that forward reach, elbow bending, wrist access and the weight of the puff can be checked together. Custom adaptation to an existing pattern is not included.

Fabric and layered construction

A stable, medium-weight woven is a starting point for the outer panes and slim lower sleeve. Choose a softer opaque woven for the gathered underlayer. Compare washed samples together: the outer panes need enough body to keep their edges distinct without flattening the inner puff or restricting movement.

The English guide will address finishing the pane edges, controlling underlayer fullness, securing both layers at the cap and band, matching the lower sleeve and testing the set-in join. Final pane count, support layers, sleeve measurements, wrist access and seam finishes will be resolved during preparation.
