Planned construction
- Front and back princess seams with a shaped waist
- Short jacket body and a standing collar
- Set-in long sleeves with bound lower edges
- Quilted layers, bound front and hem, and a button closure
Fabric and sewing notes
Lightweight cotton with a suitable thin batting and backing could suit the brief; a pre-quilted woven may also be considered after its thickness is checked. Quilt a sample first to measure take-up and assess flexibility. Construction should manage bulky seam intersections and binding joins. A toile over the intended underlayer must confirm arm movement and room for the quilted stack.
