A fitting sample should check the height of the skirt, the position of the ruching and the gap below the sweater when the arms are raised.

Fabric and sewing

A soft sweater knit with dependable stretch recovery is a starting point. A brushed surface can emphasise the folds, although a cleaner texture may make seams easier to handle. Compare a hanging swatch with a stretched sample before selecting cloth; weight and recovery matter as much as softness.
