Fabric and sewing

An opaque lightweight woven crepe, soft cotton lawn or suitable viscose woven can give the ruffle and sleeves a gentle fall. Compare a gathered swatch and narrow hem before selecting cloth. Stiff fabric may make the collar stand away sharply, and a heavy cloth can pull the tied sleeves downward.

The English guide will address the ruffle edge, even gathering, front button band, back yoke and wrist channels. Preparation must balance sleeve fullness with wrist access and keep the cuff extensions clear of the hands during ordinary movement. Make a full fitting sample to check neckline depth, shoulder balance and the usable tie length.
