A clean square neckline and softly gathered sleeves frame this planned blouse and mini dress. Shaped bodice panels define the waist, while two distinct lower finishes let the same design family work as a separate top or a complete dress. Both views are included in one $25 USD preparation order.

Two views in one pattern family

• View A — fitted blouse: square front neckline, princess-seam shaping, six small front buttons and a high-hip hem with gently pointed front ends
• View B — mini dress: the same square neckline and short puff sleeves, a closed shaped front bodice, natural-waist seam and an ungathered panelled A-line skirt finishing above the knee
• Short set-in sleeves with controlled fullness at the shoulder and narrow elastic channels at the lower openings
• Closed back with shaping seams; optional narrow rear waist ties on the blouse, and a concealed side zipper on the dress
• Planned bodice lining for the dress and a faced neckline and front opening for the blouse

The blouse opens through its button front; the dress uses a separate side opening. The dress is not made by simply extending the blouse hem. The order includes both proposed views, but trousers or skirts shown with the blouse are styling only. Dusty cornflower and muted coral are fabric-color ideas for the same construction.

Fabric and sewing

Consider light cotton poplin, cotton lawn with suitable opacity, or a soft lightweight linen blend. The cloth should hold the neckline and button band without making the sleeve gathers stiff. Use compatible lining and interfacing, and compare washed samples before choosing final materials. Lace is not required for either view.

The sewing guide will address matching the curved bodice seams, keeping the square neckline stable and distributing sleeve fullness evenly. A fitting sample should check bust position, neckline coverage, button-front gaping and arm movement. Assess the dress waist and short hem while sitting as well as standing. Elastic length, lining ease and zipper position will be resolved during preparation.
