Planned balconette construction

Three-piece cups give this design its defined outline. Each cup combines an upper section with two lower sections, set into a stable front cradle with a centre gore. Underwire channels follow the cup bases. Separate powernet back wings, adjustable shoulder straps and a centre-back hook-and-eye closure form the proposed band system.

The low, gently curved neckline and wide strap placement give the concept its balconette character. The construction depends on the relationship between cup shape, wire shape and band tension. It is a cut-and-sewn cup design; moulded foam cups, strapless wear and corset-length body panels are outside this brief.

Materials and sewing considerations

The intended material approach pairs stable cup fabric and lining with suitable powernet, lingerie elastics, channeling and compatible wires. These components must be assessed together during preparation. A similar-looking fashion fabric is not automatically a suitable replacement for a bra fabric with different stretch or recovery.

This is a technically involved lingerie project, with curved cup seams, accurate channel placement and controlled elastic application. The design has not yet been drafted, sewn or fit-tested. Wire fit, cup volume and band length require a fitting sample before final fabric is cut.
