Design details
The planned design includes:
- Swing silhouette widening from the upper body
- Collared neckline with a front button closure
- Long sleeves with space for layering
- Planned lining for the coat body and sleeves
Fabric ideas
A coat-weight woven such as wool coating or a suitable wool blend could support the silhouette. Check that the chosen fabric has enough movement for the swing shape, and select a compatible lining.
Sewing notes
Construction will centre on the collar, front closure and lining. A trial fitting over the clothing you expect to wear underneath will help assess sleeve room and coat balance.
Wear it over a slim skirt or straight trousers to show the contrast with the wider coat hem.
