Broad front extensions fall into folds, while the back stays clean and ends at the hip. The silhouette gives drape room to develop without adding a fastening or belt.

Planned design

This design combines set-in sleeves, relaxed layering ease, a center-back seam and an unlined body. Narrow finished edges follow the front falls, sleeve hems and lower edge. There are no pockets to interrupt the drape. The longer front points are part of the jacket shape, rather than a separate scarf or detachable panel.

Fabric and sewing approach

A fluid woven crepe or similarly supple woven fabric is the intended starting point. Choose a cloth that hangs softly while keeping the sleeve and shoulder seams stable; a rigid coating will produce a different result. Practice the edge finish on a scrap and check the fall of the fronts before completing the hems. The project brings together careful handling of draping fabric, sleeve setting and clean finishing.
