Broad fabric straps and a loose A-line body give this planned 1910s chemise room to move. A short corset-cover version uses the same soft layering idea, with a round neckline, front buttons and a ribbon-drawn waist.

Two planned lengths

• Long chemise with square front and back necklines, broad straps and a gently widening body
• Loose knee-length outline without a waist or underbust seam
• Scalloped lace at the neckline, armholes and hem, with a small front ribbon bow
• Short corset cover with round front and back neckline, center-front buttons and a narrow ribbon channel at the natural waist
• Short loose frill below the cover's drawn waist

The white chemise with pale-blue ribbon is shown from front and back. The short shell-pink cover is shown separately from front and back. Both lengths are included in this planned set; no corset, stays, drawers or boned support garment is included. The term corset cover describes a soft layer worn over a corset. It does not mean this garment provides corset support.

Cloth and finishing

Consider an opaque fine cotton lawn or a light, stable silk suitable for delicate seams. Sample the lace and ribbon with the cloth and pre-treat them consistently. Narrow lace edges should remain soft at the arms and neckline. Check shoulder-strap length, overhead access in the chemise and button spacing in the cover before cutting final cloth. The lace arrangement is original; no historic embroidery transfer or copied publication is supplied.
