Planned design
The front remains open, with generous scarf-like panels that move independently of the underdress. Wide integrated arm openings reach approximately elbow level. The back falls toward the lower calf, while the pointed sides create a longer visual line. A narrow edge finish outlines the shape. There is no fitted waist, belt or buttoned coat front, keeping the emphasis on drape.
Fabric and sewing notes
The brown silk-crepe concept and black alternative both use a restrained antique-gold border. A fluid woven crepe is the proposed direction; compare opacity, weight and recovery before choosing fabric. A stiff cloth would change the fall; delicate sheers may need different finishing. The plain ivory underdress in the images is a styling layer and is not part of this design.
Long hanging edges need careful handling, and a trial garment should be allowed to settle before the final hem is marked.
