Free-hanging flounce panels give this planned 1928-inspired dress a soft, moving outline. A broad pleated girdle rests low on the hips and meets at an oval front buckle. Dusty coral shows the round-neck long-sleeve view; muted celadon shows the V-neck sleeveless view.

The flounces hang from the hip area, leaving the center of the skirt visible. They are not an all-around hem tier. Both illustrated views keep the same girdle and panel arrangement, and the base garment is planned with opaque coverage.

A fluid woven crepe suits the straight body; a lighter compatible fabric can give the floating panels more movement. Sample the pleated girdle and buckle together so the folds lie evenly without twisting. The long curved panel edges need a light, balanced hem. Check girdle placement, neckline depth, seated comfort and panel clearance in a fitting sample before working in your final fabric.
