1930s Beret and Pochette PDF Sewing Pattern Set

A compact tilted beret and a matching pochette clutch bring a coordinated 1930s-inspired finish to a simple outfit. The small two-button hat tab and circular bag ornament give the set its restrained character. Deep emerald and black with ivory details show two color directions.

A compact crown and a structured clutch

• Rounded beret crown with a controlled side tilt and a close fitted lower edge
• Small horizontal side tab secured with two decorative buttons
• Trapezoid pochette with softly curved bottom corners and defined side welts
• Broad curved flap with a circular ivory-tone ornament
• Plain rear bag panel and a planned lined interior

The beret keeps its fullness close to the head, while the clutch is carried directly in the hand. There is no shoulder strap or wrist loop. The back illustration shows the proposed crown join and bag side depth. The pictured blouse and skirt are styling pieces, outside this pattern set.

Fabric and fit planning

A supple medium-weight woven wool is the starting direction for the hat. It needs enough body to maintain a compact outline without becoming rigid. Test the lower-edge support with the main fabric and lining. A very bulky coating can distort the small tab and the crown's smooth curve.

The pochette needs more support than the hat to keep the flap and side welts defined. Sample the proposed interfacing, lining and edge finish together. The ring is decorative; the discreet fastening beneath it will be finalized during preparation. Select its scale alongside the flap width so the ornament does not overwhelm the bag.

Measure the head where the beret will sit, allowing for the hairstyle shown in your intended styling. Check the crown's depth, tilt and comfort in a sample. The English guide preparation will address the crown and fitted edge, tab finish, side welts and lined flap.
