Short cap sleeves flow directly from the shoulders of this 1940s-inspired button blouse. Small gathered sections at the side waist shape the body above a softly curved high-hip hem.

Planned design and included views

• Cut-on cap sleeves integrated into the bodice
• Full center-front button opening with a collarless finish
• Two front necklines: a lower U-shaped round neck or a high round neck
• Small gathered side-waist sections and long rear waist darts
• Integral curved lower body without a separate peplum waist join
• Rounded front hem edges with a short opening below the lowest button
• Shared high round back neckline and a closed, gently curved rear hem

Both front neckline options are included in the planned blouse pattern. Powder blue shows the lower round neckline and shared back; warm ivory shows the high round neckline. The grey skirt is styling only and is not included.

Fabric and sewing notes

Consider an opaque light woven crepe, soft cotton or fine rayon with enough stability for buttonholes. The cap-sleeve edge and curved hem need careful finishing, and the gathered side sections should remain small and balanced. Test neckline coverage, button-front ease, arm movement and the waist gathering in a fitting sample. Color and buttons are styling suggestions.
