1950s Circle Skirt PDF Sewing Pattern

The original plain version remains part of the design, now joined by an optional right-side inseam pocket and three relative length plans on the same product page.

One circle skirt, two pocket treatments

• Full circular skirt with a smooth waist seam and uncluttered panels
• Separate fitted waistband at the natural waist
• Discreet left-side zipper with a waistband fastening
• View A: one hidden inseam pocket at the wearer's right side, opposite the zipper
• View B: original plain, pocketless version, retained in the cherry-red preview images
• Above-knee, knee and mid-calf length plans, with exact lengths confirmed during preparation

The emerald front and back illustrate the planned pocket option; the pocket is intentionally discreet in the full views. The close-up separates the right pocket from the left zipper so their positions are clear. The navy and emerald comparison illustrates relative hem lengths. Fabric and sewing plans

Cotton poplin, cotton sateen or a light wool woven can give the circle a defined sweep. A softer woven creates a more fluid outline. Sample the fabric with your chosen waistband support, and check how the pocket bag sits without pulling on the side seam.

The main techniques are stabilising the waist edge, attaching the waistband, constructing the optional pocket, setting the side zipper and finishing a long curved hem. Let the skirt hang before levelling the hem, as the bias sections can drop. Make a fitting sample to check the waistband, zipper access, ease and preferred hem position before cutting your final fabric.

A separate 1950s structured petticoat can be explored for a fuller outline. The petticoat, blouse and cummerbund are not included with this skirt pattern preparation.
