Vintage Longline Bra and Bandeau PDF Sewing Pattern

This original vintage bra family brings together longline and shorter woven shapes inspired by the 1930s through the 1950s. Distinct cup constructions stay together on one page, with the original seamed-cup designs retained alongside the newly illustrated choices.

Planned views and gallery order

• View A — darted longline: the first three images show a deep V front, several shaping darts, an angular underbust join and a broad fitted lower body. Powder-blue front and back views are followed by dusty rose. Narrow adjustable straps and a long centre-back hook closure complete the design.
• View B — darted short bra: the powder-blue front/back detail sheet keeps View A’s cup shaping with a short fabric band and shorter centre-back hook fastening.
• View C — reinforced strapless: the ivory front/back detail sheet shows seamed cups above an extended lower body with vertical reinforcement channels and a centre-back hook closure. Light boning is planned for this view; support and stay placement require development and fitting.
• View D — centre-dart bandeau: a low upper edge, centre-front shaping darts and narrow straps define this simpler woven band. Short covered elastic sections meet a small centre-back hook closure, shown in its front/back detail sheet.
• View E — French woven bra: the ivory front/back detail sheet combines opaque lower cups, backed lace upper cups, curved cup joining seams, a separate broad fabric underband, adjustable straps and back hooks.
• View F — original seamed-cup longline: the retained rose front/back and soft-black front images show horizontal cup seams, lower-cup shaping and a fitted long body with vertical panels and a long centre-back closure.
• View G — original strapped bandeau: the final retained front/back detail shows the shorter version of View F with the lower body ending just below the cups and a shorter back fastening.

Views F and G retain their original planned construction without underwires or boning. That statement does not apply to the reinforced strapless View C. The seven views share one preparation scope; no separate color listings or physical paper edition are offered.

Fabric and fitting

Consider suitable stable lingerie wovens for the opaque body sections and supported, backed lace for View E. Select linings, interfacing and closures with the chosen view during preparation. A fitting sample must check cup shaping, band balance, strap position where used and closure tension. The strapless view particularly needs a complete sample before final cloth. These are fashion design briefs with no tested support claim.
