A square neckline and continuous body

• Straight square upper front and a closed, straight upper back
• Narrow fabric straps tied into compact bows at the shoulders
• Relaxed continuous torso with center-front and center-back seams
• Two large front hip patch pockets with rounded lower corners
• Plain short legs ending above the knee with turned hems
• Plain rear without pockets, zipper or back lacing

This is a dedicated child garment brief. The shape has no waistband, waist seam, elastic waist, shaping darts or gathered leg opening. It is not an adult romper reduced at the printer. The three eucalyptus-green previews show the same child and construction from the front, rear and three-quarter angle.

Plan the shoulder access and pockets

A soft, opaque cotton woven or lightweight linen-cotton blend is the starting direction. The cloth needs enough body for the applied pockets without making the tied straps bulky. Test a washed swatch and a small turned strap before choosing the final material; the preview texture does not establish a tested fabric specification.

The English guide will address enclosing the neckline and armholes, forming the shoulder ties, reinforcing their anchors, applying the pockets and joining the continuous torso and shorts. The released shoulder ties provide the proposed entry route. Tie length, opening clearance and edge finishing will be resolved during drafting and checked in the sample.

Check the child's chest, full hip, torso length and seated rise before ordering. A full sample should assess dressing and toileting access, armhole coverage, shoulder position, pocket placement and movement while sitting and reaching. Keep the ties compact and check secure attachment; the images do not demonstrate tested clearance or fit. This is daytime clothing, not a sleepwear design.
