Bias fabric can change length during handling and wear, so the hanging behaviour of the actual material needs to inform both the fit and the final hem.

Fabric and sewing

A fluid satin or another smooth woven with suitable bias behaviour is a starting point. Compare the two fabrics for weight, shrinkage, stretch on the diagonal and pressing response. The contrast bodice must work with the lower panels without dragging at the joining seam. Test opacity and any proposed lining or facing before selecting the final combination.

Sewing would focus on careful grain placement, supported neckline edges and controlled joining at the front point. Narrow straps and concealed entry details would be resolved alongside the bodice fit. Allow the sample skirt to hang before levelling its hem, and check the floor length with the shoes intended for the finished outfit.
