Muted deep teal shows the front and back; warm cocoa shows the same design in an alternative color. The ivory top is styling only and is not part of the pattern preparation service. These pants have an open wide-leg hem, without jogger cuffs or a fitted leg that flares below the knee.

Choosing and checking the knit

An opaque, smooth-faced cotton French terry with controlled drape is the starting fabric. Required stretch, recovery and weight will be established during preparation. A swatch should check whether the cloth recovers at the knees and seat and whether the pocket openings keep their shape. Rib knit and woven fabric are not interchangeable substitutes for the selected French terry.

Preparation will address waistband proportions, elastic insertion, pocket support and stretch-compatible seams. A complete fitting sample should check pull-on access over the hips, the rise when sitting, elastic comfort and leg length with the intended footwear. Hem depth and stitching will be selected for the actual knit.
