Design and fabric

This nightgown is planned with a gently curved upper yoke and a gathered body that falls loosely below it. A short button opening would sit at the neckline, with relaxed long sleeves finished by narrow cuffs. Soft cotton lawn, brushed cotton or a lightweight woven blend could be explored, depending on the intended season and the eventual draft. The sewing guide would cover enclosing the yoke seam, placing the neckline opening and gathering the body evenly. Plain fabric or a small repeat would keep the construction clear when sewing the first trial garment.
