The high boat-shaped neckline and fully covered back balance the narrow upper-chest cutout. Smoky plum and ink blue show one construction in two colors.

The planned overlapping-yoke top

The opening is formed by the edges of two overlapping components. It sits above the bust and closes at both ends. The back remains plain, without a yoke opening or cutout. There are no ties, buttons, zipper, waist seam or sewn side gathers. The gray trousers shown with the top are styling only and are not included in this order.

Fabric and fitting

An opaque, smooth stretch jersey with reliable recovery is the starting point. The fabric needs to move with the fitted body while keeping the shaped opening from stretching out. Check a double-layer sample at the overlapping yoke: heavy knits may add bulk, and very fluid cloth may let the cutout edges sag.

Drafting will establish the required stretch, ease, edge stabilization and overlap. A complete fitting sample should test neckline position, upper-chest coverage and arm movement. Check the opening while reaching forward and sitting; its appearance depends on fabric recovery and the fit across the upper torso. Stabilization and seam finishes will be specified during preparation.
