A flat pumpkin shape built from curved panels

• Broad gently lobed pumpkin outline with shallow top and lower-center indents
• Five curved vertical front panels alternating burnt orange and ochre
• Parallel curved quilting through the planned layers
• Short olive fabric stem at the upper center
• Narrow bound perimeter and a plain ochre backing
• Flat low-loft construction without stuffed sections or a raised bowl shape

The front and angled previews show the five-panel arrangement; the reverse has one plain ochre backing with the quilting lines visible. This panel layout and the coordinated plain underside are our original design choices. The pattern covers one placemat design, which can be repeated for a table.

Fabric and construction planning

Stable quilting cotton is the starting point for the front and backing. Choose a manageable low-loft batting with compatible laundering behavior and enough flexibility for the curved perimeter. Prewash fabric as appropriate, test the layered sample and account for quilting draw-in before finalizing the outline.

The English guide will address the curved panel joins, seam pressing, stem attachment, layer assembly, quilting sequence and binding around the shallow indents. A trial mat must check that the edges remain flat and that the desired table-setting area is large enough. A thick filling or stiff binding would change its behavior.

This is a decorative table placemat, not a hot pad, oven mitt or microwave accessory. No protective temperature, insulation or heat-resistance performance is claimed. Dinnerware and table props are not included.
