A fitted bib-front bodice and a long skirt with fullness at the back define this proposed Regency-inspired gown. The raised waist lets the front fall smoothly while pleats provide movement behind. The bib is a working opening, secured at its upper edge with a separate underbust fastening.

Fabric and fitting

Consider cotton lawn, fine linen or a lightweight woven with a soft fall. Test opacity and the thickness of the bodice layers before choosing lining. Check the raised waist position, bib overlap and fastening placement in a full fitting sample, then assess walking and sitting in the pleated skirt. This is a new period-inspired design, with no claim of authenticated historical construction.
