Plan the quilt layers and tie attachment

A supple woven cotton with light batting and a smooth woven backing is the starting fabric direction. A compatible pre-quilted cloth may also be assessed. The rounded collar needs enough support to lie evenly without becoming stiff. The narrow ruffle can use a lighter matching woven without batting so its gathered edge stays soft. Fabric appearance in the previews is illustrative; the final material choices and layer thickness will be confirmed during preparation.

Sample the full quilt stack before cutting to check shrinkage, take-up and binding bulk. Test the ties with the front edges meeting, then assess the support needed at each attachment point. The English guide will address the three tie pairs, rounded collar, gathered ruffle, dropped-shoulder sleeve joins, patch-pocket placement and bound outer edges. Internal seam finishing, collar support, quilting layout and tie dimensions are Sewlore development choices. Reversible assembly is not included.

Check the coat over your intended clothes

Make a complete fitting sample over the clothes you plan to wear beneath it. Check forward reach, bent-arm sleeve length, pocket access and collar balance. Sit and walk with all three bows tied to assess front coverage and hem clearance. Bow placement and tape length need a practical wearer check; the previews do not establish a tested fit, warmth or weather-protection rating. There is no zipper, button closure, hood, belt, waist seam or separate wrist cuff in this view.
